Vertical Load Capacity

The vertical load capacity of a wall constructed with Durisol may be derived on the assumptions that design is based on:

• Unreinforced masonry – the concrete infill is not reinforced
• Reinforced masonry – the concrete infill is reinforced

On builds where high point loads will be transmitted via a load carrying beam bearing onto the Durisol units, we recommend localised reinforcement within the cores and within the coursing. However, if wall depth is limited by the presence of integral lintels immediately beneath the point load, the shear capacity of the integral lintel will be the limiting factor - especially where the lintel depth is 250mm (i.e. half upturned unit). In every case, vertical load capacity and the capability of the wall to sustain high point loads should be determined by design calculations undertaken by a structural engineer.
