Case study: Building with Durisol for Strength, Versatility & Safety

Overview:
Durisol was selected to build the external and internal walls of a three-storey extension to the Vicarage Care Home in North Featherstone, which provides residential and day care for the elderly and those with dementia.

Challenges:
Gurdip Singh, owner of the Vicarage Care Home, explains why this project required a strong and highly durable alternative to traditional brick and block masonry.

“We needed to have thick concrete floors throughout the building,” said Mr Singh. “We also needed walls that would withstand the odd knock from a wheel or footplate, as some of our residents use wheelchairs to get around.”

Solution:
Durisol’s 80% recycled wood blocks are filled with concrete to form a solid, durable wall. That makes Durisol walls capable of providing the support that is vital for the care home’s thick concrete floors. Durisol walls are also strong enough to withstand the daily knocks and bumps of healthcare environments, without crumbling away. In fact, Durisol more than meets the safety standards required by care homes everywhere.
